Celebrating GSG Advisor, Ms. Rich!

19 Apr

In honor of Girl Scout Volunteer Appreciation Week, Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas is highlighting exceptional volunteers each day this week.

Your self-awareness enables girls to discover themselves and their values.

Your teamwork inspires girls to connect with others in an increasingly diverse world.

Your ability to embrace change empowers girls to take action to change the world.

You are the leaders behind the leaders.

Alicia Rich

Alicia serves as the Gamma Sigma Girls (GSG) Advisor for Thomas Jefferson High School. During the initial recruitment for GSG, we had an abundant number of girls interested in joining the Jefferson Chapter. Rather than restricting the program to only 25 girls, Alicia recruited a co-advisor and reached out to the school community to fund the additional girls’ fees (obtaining the funds in less than three hours).

Since the launch of GSG in September 2010, Alicia has committed herself to creating a strongly motivated GSG Chapter that is truly girl-led. Jefferson’s GSG Chapter has participated in several Girl Scout events including: GSG Leadership Development night, 2011 Girl Scout Cookie Program, College Readiness Training, Up in Stitches program, Battle of Flowers Parade, and GS National Delegate Application.

Without her support and passion for the GSG program it would not be nearly as successful as it has been at Thomas Jefferson High School. We are incredibly grateful for her dedication to creating girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

Thank you, Alicia, for being a fantastic volunteer! GSSWT is proud to recognize you today!
